Walks along River Thames: Reading's suburbs from Caversham to Earley

continue upstream                              continue downstream

Approaching Reading from the West, the first impression of Reading are lofty riverside homes of Caversham, and Swans near Caversham Bridge.
From Caversham Bridge to Reading Bridge, the Thames passes the Northern outskirts of Reading. From Reading Bridge it is a three minutes walk to the train station, and off to London in 30 minutes.

East of Reading it is decision time: Follow the Kennet & Avon canal to Newbury, Bath and Bristol, or follow the Thames downstream towards London

A paddle boats is overtaking us on the river.

The Thames path passes the Thames Valley industrial park in Earley. Offices of Oracle, one of Reading's largest employers, overlook the meadow by the river.
